SWTOR, or Star Wars: The Old Republic, is a very popular MMORPG that hit the market last Christmas. Since its release, it has sold millions of copies and plenty of gamers are hooked on this fascinating new gaming experience. The game is based off of the incredibly popular sci-fi franchise Star Wars. The series’ immense popularity helps to ensure that the game will stick around for quite some time.
The game’s storyline is set thousands of years before any of the events in the movies. At this point in time, the game’s two key factions, the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire, are in the midst of a conflict that had been going on for centuries. The Treaty of Coruscant brought about temporary peace, but fighting shortly followed after its signing.
When you first begin playing SWTOR, you will have to create a character. This first step involves choosing which faction you will be loyal to: the Sith Empire or the Galactic Republic. Each side has four different classes specific to that faction. For example, players can choose to play: Jedi Knight, Bounty Hunter, Sith Warrior and Smuggler. There are many class options available and gamers will undoubtedly find one that fits their style.
Players can also choose which race or species they want to play. They can choose from Zabrak, Twi’lek, Human and Sith Pureblood. Players can also choose from a vast array of different options to customize their character’s appearance. You can create some very unique looks! To further your character, you will pick up a number of different types of armor that will change your character’s clothing.
One of the more unique features of the game is their companion system. Throughout your travels, you will forge relationships with quite a few companions. Essentially, they help your character during combat by fighting with you or healing. Players can even customize the appearance of their companions. On top of this, they can also carry out missions where they gather materials for you and craft different items. These companions are not just robots that follow you around, they forge relationships with your character. You can choose to give them gifts, or even form romantic relationships with your companions.
Space combat is another exciting aspect of the gaming experience. It’s a lot like an interactive movie. Ships are unique to each class and can be upgraded over time. Upgraded ships are needed to complete advanced space combat dailies. Flashpoints are another great feature of the game. These are much like the dungeons found in other MMORPGs. They involve boss fights and epic loot. Star Wars: The Old Republic also has PVP (player versus player) Warzones, which are a lot like the battlegrounds found in World of Warcraft. Opposing factions attempt to complete certain objectives.
Very new online players may find a SWTOR guide to be really insightful. There are a lot of SWTOR strategies to select from.
