We have been ever so blessed that Nintendo granted us a second Super Mario Galaxy after the amazing beauty of the first. But what are the chances that we will see a third installment in the series?

With the future being unknown, it all comes down to history. Meaning that we need to look at what Nintendo has done in the past to determine what they will do in the future.

Super Mario Galaxy was announced just a year before it hit the shelves. Same went with Super Mario Galaxy 2. It’s a question now to see whether or not Nintendo will do the same with Super Mario Galaxy 3. The sad part is that we will definitely not be seeing it launch alongside the Wii U.

With the launch of the Wii, Super Mario Galaxy was announced. So it’s very possible that history will repeat itself and that Nintendo will announce Super Mario Galaxy 3 along with the launch of the Wii U.

Also, when a new game system is released, people NEED new games for it. And people will always flock to the bestsellers. So it would be a mighty profitable move for Nintendo.

Mario is very popular because his games have been on ever console since the beginning of Nintendo. With the technology similar to the Wii, it would make sense to continue with the series but to give it the benefits coming with the new console.

What would be a reason for Nintendo to not release Super Mario Galaxy 3? Maybe they are all out of good ideas for space games or a more plausible option is that they have a new idea in the works.

These are possible, but not probable. Nintendo released Super Mario 3D land and boosted 3DS sales, and I suspect that they will do the same with Super Mario Galaxy 3 and the Wii U.
